Question 2

What services do you offer?

Accepted Answer

We offer full-service property cleanup and junk removal designed to handle everything from small pickups to large-scale cleanouts. Our most popular services include property cleanups, estate and foreclosure cleanouts, garage and yard debris removal, waste and junk hauling, and hot tub removal. We also specialize in senior living facility cleanouts, providing respectful, efficient service for families and property managers. We are fully licensed and insured, carry a $2 million policy, and all of our work is guaranteed to ensure reliable, high-quality results every time.

Question 3

Free Estimates/Pricing Explained

Accepted Answer

At Santa Cruz Junk Removal, we always recommend a free in-person estimate before starting any job. While we’re happy to provide ballpark quotes over the phone or by text, ( up to 1 truckload ) but seeing the job in person allows us to give you the most accurate price, we can often offer a better quote in person — and in most cases, it ends up being cheaper than expected.

In-person estimates help us understand exactly what needs to be hauled, how much space it will take in our truck, and what can be donated or recycled. It also gives you a chance to ask questions, walk us through the job, and get upfront pricing with no surprises.

Our estimates are 100% free, with no pressure to book. It’s just the best way to ensure fair, transparent pricing for your junk removal, hauling cleanup or property cleanup.

Question 4

SCJR Not Yours...... Dont Pay Policy Explained.....

Accepted Answer

At Santa Cruz Junk Removal, we price by volume—not by the truck. That means you only pay for the space your items actually take up.

We don’t charge you for empty space or try to sell you a full truck when you don’t need it. Every load is customized to fit your specific job, whether it’s:
A small pickup
A partial load
Or a full property cleanout

We offer multiple pricing tiers so we can tailor the cost to your exact needs.
How do you fit more in one load?

We operate one of the largest junk removal trucks in the county, measuring:
16 feet long
Holding up to 33 cubic yards

Most competitors run trucks or trailers around 12–14 feet, which often requires multiple trips. What takes them two loads, we can often complete in one—saving you time and money.
Our truck is fully built for junk removal, featuring:
Full metal sides (stronger and higher capacity than wood-sided trailers)
Optimized space for maximum loading efficiency

How do you maximize space (and save me money)?
With over 10 years of experience, we use professional, efficient loading techniques to get the most out of every inch, including:
Standing large items (like couches) upright
Facing and stacking items strategically
Using interior spaces (like inside furniture) for smaller items
Filling gaps to eliminate unused air space
We treat every load like a puzzle—minimizing wasted space so you’re not paying for it.
Bottom line:

If it’s not your space, you shouldn’t be paying for it. We make sure you only pay for what you use—nothing more.

Question 5

In-person quote VS photo estimate explained..

Accepted Answer

Most people want to send photos for a quick quote—and we understand. But the truth is, photos don’t tell the full story. They can hide volume, weight, and important details, making a job look smaller than it really is.Because of that, phone and text estimates are almost always priced higher. We have to account for what we can’t see so we don’t show up and change the price later. That’s why we don’t recommend over-the-phone quotes.A quick in-person quote gets you the best deal—every time:Free and no obligationTakes less than 5 minutesMore accurate pricing—usually much lowerNo surprises, no price changesAnd here’s something most people don’t realize: If we’re already in your area finishing another job, we can often offer an extra discounted rate just to fill the schedule and pass savings on to you.Example: A photo quote might come in at $400. After an in-person look, that same job could drop to $180—or even less with a same-day discounted rate.We have a 99.7% close rate on in-person quotes because customers get the real price right away.If you want the lowest price and no guesswork, let us stop by. We’re local, fast, and if we’re already nearby, it takes just minutes.Don’t overpay based on a picture—get the real number.

Question 6

How big is your truck?

Accepted Answer

This is over our 33 yard capacity and considered an "oversized" load!

We have a 12ft trailer and our 16ft trailer, of the largest in the County. Both meant to haul some of the most heaviest loads

e is a side view of our 16ft trailer

We operate two service trucks, with our smaller truck holding about 10-15 cubic yards equivalent to 1 GOT-JUNK Truck, and our largest truck that can hold 25-33 cubic yards, about two GOT-JUNK Trucks.

We can haul out an entire 3-

4 bedroom family home in a single trip*

Question 7

Why hiring a local verified company is important

Accepted Answer

At Santa Cruz Junk Removal, honesty and accountability matter. Hiring a junk removal company isn’t just about price — it’s about where your items actually end up. Many low-cost haulers cut corners by skipping disposal and donation fees, falsely claiming items will be donated, or disposing of materials improperly. When pricing is unrealistically cheap, it often means your items may end up dumped on a back road, vacant lot, or illegal site.

What many people don’t realize is that both the hauler and the customer can be held liable for illegal dumping, resulting in fines, penalties, and legal issues. That’s why it’s critical to hire a locally registered, licensed, and insured junk removal company that follows county and city disposal regulations.

Santa Cruz Junk Removal is a locally registered service provider that prioritizes proper disposal, recycling, and legitimate donation practices. We believe transparency protects our customers, our community, and the environment — and that doing the job the right way matters more than being the cheapest option. Below is our FBN Register

Question 8

Whats the difference between you and the corporate options?

Accepted Answer

Why Choose Us Instead of the Corporate Chains

At Santa Cruz Junk Removal, you deal directly with a real local owner — not a call center or corporate franchise. That means faster response times, fairer pricing, and personal accountability on every job. We offer the same licensing, insurance, and Google Guaranteed protection that the big national brands do, but without the high franchise overhead or out-of-area fees. Because we’re local, we care more about your experience than a 9-to-5 employee ever could — every cleanup, every load, and every handshake reflects our reputation in the community. With us, you’re not just another work order — you’re our neighbor.

Question 9

What areas do you service?

Accepted Answer

We service Santa Cruz, Soquel, Capitola, Aptos, Watsonville, Felton, Scotts Valley, Ben Lomond, Booney Doone, Boulder Creek, Corrilitos, Los Gatos, Salinas, Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove & Hollister. (Basically The entire Central Coast)

Question 10

Can you move items to another location?

Accepted Answer

We're strictly a junk removal and hauling service focused on removing unwanted items from your property and taking them directly to disposal or recycling facilities. Our insurance only covers hauling junk away—not moving or relocating personal belongings. Moving requires specialized insurance to protect items from damage, loss, or breakage during transport, and our policy explicitly excludes any kind of moves. This keeps us fully compliant, properly insured, and focused on what we do best: clearing out true junk, hauling and demoing items you don't want. For relocating usable items, we recommend a licensed moving company.

Question 11

Do you charge to take donations?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we charge to take donations. Although there may or may not be a dumping fee. We are not only transporting the items, we're also taking the risk that those items may be rejected at donation.

disclaimer: Santa Cruz Junk Removal does not resell or store any donations

Question 13

Do you offer discreet hoarding clean-out services?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we provide discreet, compassionate hoarding cleanouts throughout Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties. Our crew understands the sensitive nature of hoarding and can arrive in unmarked trucks upon request. Every job is handled with respect, professionalism, and complete confidentiality.

Question 14

Do you offer discounts for donations? How do donations work?

Accepted Answer

No—donation pickups are charged at the same rate as regular hauling. Even when items are being donated, the job still requires space, labor, loading, transportation, and time at the donation facility.

To qualify for donation, items must be:
Boxed, bagged, or neatly organized
Folded when applicable
Clearly labeled

Loose or unorganized items (including bags of mixed goods or loose books) are typically not accepted from commercial companies.
Many customers are told “yes” by donation centers—but that usually applies to personal drop-offs, not business deliveries. Commercial loads follow stricter rules and are often declined if they don’t meet requirements.

We work with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, where items must be clean and donation-ready. Some furniture may be accepted depending on condition, but final approval is always up to the facility.

Important — Please Read
At Santa Cruz Junk Removal, we do things differently:
We do not store, resell, or keep any items
We do not make false promises just to win the job
We are a fully county-registered and verified company

The truth is, many companies will say your items will be donated or resold—but due to strict commercial guidelines, there’s a strong chance items may not be accepted unless properly labeled.

That said, we do everything we can to improve your items’ chances of being accepted for donation or resale. We strongly encourage customers to:

Label boxes clearly
Keep items organized and donation-ready
Properly pack fragile items (like glassware or dishes) using paper or padding to prevent damage during transport

We are a junk removal and property cleanout company—not a donation or storage service. While our goal is to keep as much as possible out of local landfills and help repurpose items back into the community, we cannot guarantee donation acceptance.

Our commitment is simple: honest service, clear expectations, and doing everything we can to handle your items the right way.

Question 15

Do I need to be present to receive service?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. We often times can do the entire cleanup remotely. From the estimate to the payment.

Question 16

Do you donate or recycle items you collect?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we do. We partner with Habitat for Humanity, Grey Bears, and local recyclers to donate reusable items and recycle as much as possible. Our goal is to keep good items out of landfills while helping the local community.

Question 19

Do you remove RV's Yes But... Please read our policy

Accepted Answer

Yes, Santa Cruz Junk Removal does offer RV removal services. However, due to recent county regulations, the process has become more strict and requires specific documentation. To legally remove and dispose of an RV, we must have:A copy of the vehicle titleWe can no longer accept registration in place of a title. Without a valid title, we are unable to remove the RV. Once we haul it away, we are legally taking possession of the vehicle, and disposal facilities will not accept it without proper ownership documentation.Sewage RequirementsRVs must also meet sanitation requirements before removal:The sewage tank must be completely emptiedYou must provide a receipt from a licensed sewage pumping serviceThe receipt must be dated within the last 30 daysIf the RV still contains waste or does not have proper documentation, disposal sites will reject it.Why these rules matterThese regulations are enforced at the county level and at local landfills. If an RV is improperly handled, it can create serious legal and environmental issues. We strongly recommend being cautious when hiring other companies. If a company does not follow these legal steps, there is a risk your RV could be illegally dumped. If that happens, law enforcement may trace the vehicle using the VIN, and it can potentially be linked back to the original owner. Our commitmentWe follow all local regulations to ensure your RV is removed and disposed of legally, safely, and responsibly. While the process is more involved than standard junk removal, we’re here to guide you through it and make it as smooth as possible.
